FLEXCO RIVET STYLE LACING

Rivet Style fasteners are designed for today’s high strength synthetic carcass belts as well as older styles for maximum resistance against fastener pull-out and allows the rivets to work between the carcass fibers without severing them. Fasteners are available in a range of sizes to work with many belt styles and thicknesses.

Flexco Rivet Hinged lacing is designed for use in heavy duty mining operations, construction equipment, asphalt plants, aggregate and ready mix plants and similar operations where small pulleys are used. Specially beveled plates make a smooth profile and avoid hang-up.

 

Flexco Rivet Solid Plate is designed for use in main haulage belts in coal, hard rock mining, foundries, grain elevators, aggregate plants and steel mills. Especially effective for higher tension applications and where durability and service life are most important. Specially beveled plates make a smooth profile and avoid hang-up. It makes an excellent replacement for vulcanized splices.

Installation is easy using either the single or multiple rivet portable tool and a hammer. Both styles are available in different widths to fit your need. Because the rivets are self-setting, fasteners are installed quickly from the top side of the belt. Rivets are driven through the fastener plates and through the belt without damaging the carcass of the belt. The specially shaped head of each pilot nail works in conjunction with the applicator tools’ anvil plate to set the rivets. The same hammer blow that sets the rivets, also compresses the fastener plates into the belt covers. This simultaneous action distributes the splice tension evenly across the full belt width.

HOW TO SPECIFY THE CORRECT LACING

  • Determine your belt tension.

    Most conveyor belting has a mechanical fastener rating The fastener sizes listed in the chart below

    are for use on belts not in excess of the ratings shown. Care should be taken to not operate the

    belting or fasteners beyond their recommended ratings.

  • Measure your belt thickness.

    If a portion of the belt cover is to be removed to “recess” the lacing, measure the belt thickness after the cover has been skived. Choose a lacing size that corresponds to your belt thickness from the chart below.

  • Measure the diameter of the smallest pulley.

    Note minimum pulley diameters shown for various sizes of lacing from the chart below. chart below.

  • Identify the correct lacing:

    Find the lacing size that best fits your specifications in the chart below.

Each box contains two fastener strips,enough to make one splice. Strips are packaged for all standard belt widths.

 

For all BR Series Fasteners:

Each box contains 35 individual fasteners. By using the chart at the right, determine the number of boxes needed to do each splice.

Determine the size and number of rivets and the length and style hinge pin needed from the charts on the following pages.
